1968 - 1972 Chevelle A-Body Front and Rear RideTech CoilOver System Suspension Kit

This CoilOver System is specifically designed for the 1968-1972 GM "A" Body Platform and includes everything needed to create modern driveability from vintage muscle. The package contains front upper and lower tubular control arms, tall spindles, front & rear MuscleBars sway bar, rear StrongArms and 4 HQ Series CoilOvers. The benefit of buying a complete suspension system is that it takes all of the guesswork out when purchasing a new suspension. RideTech has spent hours collecting data to find a perfect spring rate and components for your vehicle's performance and ride quality.

1968-1972 GM "A" Body includes Chevelle, Cutlass, El Camino, F85, Grand Prix (69-72), GS, GTO, LeMans, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Skylark, Special, Sportwagon, Tempest and Vista Cruiser.

RideTech Tall Spindles will induce more negative camber gain to maximize tire contact patch during cornering. It also offers a 2” pin drop which allows for the use of longer shocks creating more suspension travel.

The Upper StrongArms feature corrected ball joint angles for the tall spindles. The upper ball joint have been moved back to allow for additional caster setting to improve high speed stability and steering feel. Offset slugs are also available for additional caster. Injection molded Delrin bushings with 13% Teflon are used to reduce deflection and stiction.

The Lower StrongArms feature a double sheer lower mount for increased strength. We have also dropped the lower shock mount to increase suspension travel and moved the lower ball joint forward to increase caster settings while keeping the wheel centered in the wheel opening. Injection molded Delrin bushings with 13% Teflon are used to reduce deflection and stiction.

HQ Series CoilOvers utilize an impact forged aluminum body and Monotube design to deliver excellent ride quality and handling. They allow fine tuning of the ride quality and handling, the rebound knob is located at the top of the shock for under hood access. They come standard with a 1,000,0001 Mile Warranty. Brackets are included with the rear coilovers for easy attachment to the frame and to the 10/12 bolt rearend or Currie 9".

This Front MucleBar helps reduce body roll and creates room for wider front tires. It includes the PosiLink endlinks that provide immediate engagement between the chassis and control arms. An adjustable rate Rear MuscleBar is also included.

The Rear StrongArms provide added strength to help get the power to the pavement and utilize R-Joint Technology to combine the best qualities of low friction movement, lateral stability, full range articulation, and quiet operation into one special bearing that is as home on the street as it is on the racetrack.

1968 - 1972 Chevelle Suspension Kit, Ridetech, StreetGrip, Small Block & LS
1968 - 1972 Chevelle Suspension Kit, Ridetech, StreetGrip, Small Block & LS
Our Price: $2,200.00

Ridetech has spent many hours and miles developing this Street Grip suspension system for your 1968 - 1972 Chevelle. This 68, 69, 70, 71 or 72 suspension kit is a direct bolt-on, no modifications required. This system allows you to make you musclecar handle like the newer car you drive daily at a reasonable price. Grab your today and you will be on an autocross before you know it. This kit will give you the best of both worlds, cruisin and racing. You now can drive your ride to the track in comfort with this new kit featuring dual rate coil springs.

Ride Height with 15" Wheels
1972 Chevelle
(Front) 235/60R15 24.75" (Rear) 235/60R15 25.188"

Reasons you need this kit:

1.The dual-rate spring coil springs will allow the vehicle to transition small road irregularities via a soft spring rate. When the vehicle compresses the spring far enough (through large bumps or cornering), it transitions to the firmer spring rate to control the bump or body roll. We have worked closely with Hyperco to develop custom dual rates to ensure the best ride possible.
2. Shocks are the brains of your suspension...the single most important influence on ride quality and handling performance. RideTech and Fox have spent years refining the characteristics of these monotube shocks to optimize the performance of YOUR car! 24 Valve Single Adjustable Front and Rear Shocks with Top adjustment knob for easy tuning!
3.Most OEM front swaybars were calibrated with tires and cornering loads that were radically less capable than today. We increase the diameter of the swaybar to minimize the body roll through the corners to optimize the handling performance. Includes Delrin bushing to eliminate stiction and allow the swaybar to move freely.
4. OEM rubber control arm bushings allow too much deflection on the control arms. Poly bushings resist smooth rotation and impose stiction. Delrin bushings eliminate the deflection AND the stiction, leading to a huge improvement in both ride quality and handling.
5.Most OEM front suspension geometry, in addition to being designed over 50 years ago, induced "positive camber" when cornering (loaded tire leans away from the turn). This is a huge compromise in cornering performance and feel. By installing a taller set of balljoints, we reposition the control arms to correct this condition and create a much more stable and enjoyable driving and cornering experience.
6. 50lb weight savings in unsprung weight will improve handling and ride quality. These composite leafs also incorporate more torsional strength so any "spring wrap" is diminished. The billet leaf spring eyelets help achieve the desired stance.

Kit Includes:
-Tall Upper Ball Joints
-Delrin Upper & Lower Control Arm Bushings
-Front Dual-Rate Coil Springs
-4.75" Stroke Front Adjustable Shocks
-Front Sway Bar
-Delrin Sway Bar Bushings
-Swaybar End Links
-Rear Dual-Rate Coil Springs
-Rear Swaybar
-7.55" Stroke Rear Adjustable Shocks

1968 - 1972 Chevelle GM A-Body TruLink Rear Suspension System Kit
1968 - 1972 Chevelle GM A-Body TruLink Rear Suspension System Kit
Our Price: $995.00

1968 - 1972 Chevelle GM A-Body TruLink Rear Suspension System Kit

Tune up your 1968 - 1972 Chevelle GM A-body chassis with RideTech’s TruLink Adjustable Rear Suspension System. Achieve significantly better handling and launch characteristics along with dramatically improved ride quality and service life. The comprehensive system features heavy duty tubular control arms equipped with patent-pending R-Joints plus application-tuned HQ Series adjustable shock absorbers. We replace your car’s flex-prone stamped upper and lower control arms with precision-welded tubular steel StrongArms constructed from heavy duty 1.5” OD .156 wall DOM steel tube. The end result is less flex for more predictable handling and launch characteristics.

StrongArm rear control arms are precision welded at our Jasper, Indiana factory and then powder-coated for long-lasting appearance. We install patent-pending R-Joint rod ends and bearings for noise-free, high articulation movement with zero stiction. R-Joints eliminate the binding, stiction, noise and vibration associated with poly bushings offered in most aftermarket control arms. R-Joints never need lubrication and have exceptional wear resistance. For ultimate articulation, the TruLink system features press-in R-Joints for your axle to upper control arm attachment points. This critical feature is often overlooked in the upgrade process.

The final piece in the TruLink system is a pair of RideTech HQ Series adjustable monotube shock absorbers. We custom-valve them specifically for the A-Body platform with modern tires. We provide rebound adjustment to help you fine tune compliance. With a few turns of the adjusting knob, you can tune rebound damping to suit both your car’s needs and your personal preferences. RideTech HQ Series shocks offer an industry-exclusive 1,000,001 mile warranty.

We’re confident that TruLink is the most comprehensive bolt-on rear suspension system ever offered for GM A-Bodies. It’s also the most versatile design on the market. As your needs and budget grow, you can add matching HQ Series front shocks, StreetGRIP high performance coil springs and an adjustable MuscleBar™ rear sway bar. Down the line, you can upgrade to adjustable coilovers or Shockwaves with matching TruTurn front suspension.

Development - StrongArms™ are developed by Ridetech® in Jasper, Indiana on an actual running, driving vehicle. This allows us to properly address ALL fitment and performance issues. It also allows us to document an installation, demonstrate the installation to our sales techs and dealers, and allows ongoing evaluation of the performance of the StrongArms™

Design - We think the best way to design any component is to keep it simple. That is why Strong Arms™ are designed with as few components as possible. We have a new 4 axis tubing bender that allows precise, repeatable bends that no other machine can achieve. We can create elegant tubing bends that would otherwise require several separate welded components.

Components - We have worked closely with Moog, a major manufacturer of OEM ball joints, to ensure that the proper ball joints have been selected for the Application... a compression style unit in a compression application, a tension ball joint in a tension application. Proper poly or rubber bushings are selected based on application and the type of driving or racing that is anticipated.

Geometry - Geometry of a suspension starts with the position of the frame mounts and the height of the spindle, not the shape of the control arm. However, there are a few small things in control arm design that can make a big difference in how a vehicle drives and performs.

  • We create extra caster potential by adjusting the fore and aft position of the ball joints. At the same time we make sure the wheel is properly positioned in the wheel-well so your new 18" wheels fit like they should!
  • The balljoint camber travel is re-centered to accommodate the new lowered ride height so the ball joint doesn’t bind during extreme suspension movement.
  • The perimeter of the StrongArms is contoured to allow maximum wheel clearance and turning radius.
  • All shock mounts, airspring mounts, and swaybar mounts are integrated into the design so you don’t have to finish the engineering in order to enjoy your ride!

StrongArms™ are optimized to allow proper camber adjustment at your new lowered ride height without using a large stack of shims.

All STRONGARMS include ball joints, and bushings. They are bolt-on: ready to install!

Global West's tubular lower arms are perfect for stock or performance suspension upgrades. Both arms are supplied with ball joints, bump stops, control arm bushings, and a innovative rotating spring cushion. The control arms also provide additional header tube clearance, requires no frame modifications and are assembled for your conveyance.

Note: The arms are sold in pairs, only one kit is required per car. USE WITH SUS-4613 for a Matching Upper Control Arm Set.

Why a rotating spring mount?

There are a three reasons why we built a rotating spring pocket.

1. A lot of people cut the coil spring to obtain a desired ride height. When you cut the spring, the spring will no longer line up in the lower arm or upper frame mount . In some cases this can cause the spring to make noise rubbing on the edge of the pocket. In this case the spring cushions solves the rubbing issue and by rotating it provides a way to re-index the spring.

2.The spring will be indexed properly around the coil. If you will notice most tubular lower control arms have a flat plate that the spring sits on. There really is no index. This places a lot of load at the very end of the coil spring rather than on the full coil. Over time this will fatigue the coil spring. Sag may occur.

3. Ride height adjustments can be made by shimming under the spring pocket.

1964 - 1972 Chevelle RideTech Tall Spindles, Pair

The RideTech spindle is a heavy duty forging that is approx. 1.75" taller [balljoint to balljoint] than the OEM spindle. This basic geometry change increases the camber gain during suspension compression [allows the tire to lean into the turn instead of away from the turn]. The RideTech spindle also has a pin height that is 2" higher than the OEM spindle. This means that your car will sit 2" lower than it would with the OEM spindle. For use with Disc Brakes.

The RideTech spindles are compatible only with aftermarket tubular control arms like RideTech StrongArms. See part numbers below for StrongArms control arms for your application.
